Baked Cinnamon Apples


    This is a fantastic dessert for autumn or winter. Apples are sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, then baked with apple juice. Serve with hot apple juice, cream, custard or ice cream.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 large apples, washed, patted dry and core removed
    • 115g caster sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 250ml apple juice

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
    2. Place apples in a small glass baking dish. Mix together sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on apples, inside and out.
    3. Pour enough apple juice into the baking dish so that apples are sitting in 1-2cm juice.
    4. Bake in preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, basting every 15 minutes. They are done when tender (test with a sharp knife). Serve with the hot apple juice.
