Baked Apples with Marzipan

    A deliciously simple apple dessert, which is made by stuffing apples with marzipan and baking them with orange juice. Serve with cream, custard or ice cream.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 large apples
    • 150g marzipan
    • 1 tablespoon orange marmalade
    • 30g butter
    • 200ml orange juice

    1. Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
    2. Peel apples and neatly cut out cores. Place in a baking dish.
    3. Knead the orange marmalade into the marzipan, then use to stuff the apple cavities. Top each apple with a knob of butter.
    4. Pour orange juice into the baking dish and bake in preheated oven for 55-60 minutes. Occasionally baste with orange juice. Serve with ice-cold vanilla custard or vanilla ice cream.
