Skinless beef sausages

    This Balkan dish is also known as Ćevapčići. It's easy to make and tastes delicious. Seasoned minced beef is shaped into skinny sausages and pan-fried. They are traditionally served with white bread, finely chopped red pepper, onion and salt. However, you can enjoy them with whatever you want.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 2 onions, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 1 egg
    • 500g minced beef (or 250g minced beef and 250g minced lamb/pork)
    • salt and pepper
    • 3 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
    • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
    • 1 tablespoon mustard
    • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
    • 2 tablespoons plain flour
    • oil for frying

    Method

    1. Mix together onions, garlic, egg and minced meat. Season with salt, pepper, parsley, tomato puree, mustard and cayenne. Mix well. Shape meat into finger-thick sausages and roll in flour.
    2. Heat oil in a pan and fry
    3. Heat oil in a pan and fry Ćevapčići on each side for about 5-6 minutes. They should be nicely browned on the outside and juicy on the inside. You can also cook these on a BBQ if you prefer.
