    A delicious macaroni cheese, which is the perfect comfort food for the cold winter nights. Macaroni is topped with sliced Cheddar and a white sauce, before being baked to perfection.

    Serves: 4 

    • 225g macaroni pasta
    • 30g butter
    • 225g sliced Cheddar cheese
    • paprika to taste
    • 475ml milk
    • 2 tablespoons plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Butter a 2-litre baking dish.
    2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Add macaroni and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain. Transfer to prepared dish and lay cheese slices on top. Sprinkle with paprika.
    3. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add milk and flour, stirring until it thickens. Stir in salt and pepper and pour over macaroni and cheese.
    4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.

    I'm not a very good cook, and living with an Italian it's very hard to cook a pasta dish to his standard. However this recipe was easy to follow and to food was delicious! Thank you.  -  26 Jan 2014
