Garlic baked scallops

    If you love scallops, you will love this dish. Scallops are baked in butter, garlic, shallots, parsley and breadcrumbs. They are perfect as a starter or main course.

    Serves: 4 

    • 16 sea scallops, rinsed and drained
    • 75g butter, melted
    • 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 2 shallots, chopped
    • 3 pinches ground nutmeg
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 110g breadcrumbs
    • 4 tablespoons olive oil
    • 4 tablespoons chopped parsley
    • lemon wedges for garnish

    1. Preheat oven to 220 C / Gas 7.
    2. Place scallops, melted butter, garlic and shallots in a bowl. Season with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Stir gently to combine. Transfer to a baking dish.
    3. In a separate bowl, combine breadcrumbs and olive oil. Sprinkle on top of scallops.
    4. Bake in preheated oven until breadcrumbs are brown and scallops are done, about 11 to 14 minutes. Top with parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

    I made this for myself and my partner tonight and it was lovely! Followed the recipe exactly (my partner has a large appetite lol) and we really enjoyed. Personally I found it was a tiny bit oily from the breadcrumb and a little too much garlic for my liking but that just me being picky.  -  13 Nov 2015


    I followed the recipe exactly. Next time I would use a lot less breadcrumbs and a slightly bigger dish because there was too much liquid and the breadcrumbs did not crisp up. None the less, the taste was great.  -  26 Jul 2014
