Classic beef pasta bake

    A great one dish dinner. Pasta is tossed with a beef ragu and topped with grated mozzarella, before being baked to perfection. Serve with a side salad and/or side salad.

    Serves: 8 

    • 450g pasta
    • 450g lean minced beef
    • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 1.2kg passata
    • 350g ready-made gravy
    • 125ml single cream
    • 40g grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1 teaspoon dried basil
    • 120g grated mozzarella cheese

    1. In a large frying pan, cook and stir minced beef until brown. Add garlic, passata, gravy, cream, Parmesan cheese, oregano and basil. Simmer for 30 minutes.
    2. Meanwhile, cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water until al dente. Drain.
    3. Combine the pasta and the sauce. Spread into a greased 20x30cm baking dish. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
    4. Bake at 180 C / Gas 4 for 20 to 30 minutes, until bubbly.

    I left out the basil as i can't stand it!  -  07 Sep 2011


    Not bad, need to make a few adjustments as I could taste the gravy a lot but a very good base to start with, my lot cleared their plates  -  03 Feb 2012
