About this recipe:These wonderful soft cookies are a cinch to make. They are flavoured with banana, oats, cinnamon, cloves and walnuts. Enjoy as a snack or with a cuppa.

220g dark brown soft sugar
125g mashed ripe banana
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
125g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
250g porridge oats
60g chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease baking trays.
In a large bowl, cream together margarine and dark brown soft sugar. Beat in egg and mashed banana, then stir in vanilla. Combine flour, bicarbonate of soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves; stir into the banana mixture. Mix in oats and walnuts. Drop heaped spoons of the batter onto baking trays, leaving adequate room for spreading.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking trays for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
They don't look overly exciting so added some melted chocolate on top. Quite tasty but I was concerned at the amount of salt and think I was right- definitely too salty for my taste! I used butter rather than margarine. - 08 Feb 2016
