Grilled Halibut with Goat Cheese

About this recipe: Halibut fillets are topped with seasoned goat cheese, grilled and served with creamy lemon and chive sauce. Enjoy with mashed potatoes and a side of vegetables.

Serves: 2 

  • 175g soft goat cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 2 (175g) steaks halibut
  • 30g butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 15g butter
  • 50g cream cheese, whipped
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives

  1. Preheat grill and set the oven rack at about 15cm from the heat source.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the goat cheese, lemon pepper and salt. Pat this evenly over the tops of the halibut steaks. Place the steaks on a baking tray. Dot each fillet with 15g butter.
  3. Grill for 8 to 10 minutes per 2.5cm of thickness of the steaks. They are done when the cheese is browned and the fish can be flaked with a fork.
  4. While the fish is cooking, combine the remaining butter, lemon juice, cream cheese, milk and chives in a small saucepan. Cook while stirring over low heat until everything is melted and smooth. Spoon sauce onto dinner plates and place the halibut steaks on top to serve.
