    About this recipe: A simple pasta bake that is a boon to mums everywhere! Simply combine browned mince with cooked macaroni, a bit of butter, grated Cheddar and passata. The result is a cheesy, bubbly and comforting supper that will please the entire family.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • 450g minced beef
    • 1 (500g) pack macaroni
    • 250g grated Cheddar cheese
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 1 (800g) jar passata
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
    2. Crumble the mince into a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until evenly browned. Drain.
    3. While the mince is cooking, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Add macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain, and stir in butter. Transfer to a large casserole dish, and mix in the mince, passata and Cheddar cheese. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper over the top.
    4. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until heated through and bubbly.

    It was very simple without any veg. So I added some onions and blended down some courgettes and mushrooms as "hidden" vegetables for the kids and a little basil. I then sprinkled cheese on top before putting in the oven. It may seem like I did a lot to it but I didn't really. And it was pretty tasty. - 20 Oct 2016
