About this recipe: These are spectacular burgers flavoured with a sachet of French onion soup mix. The addition of oats ensure the burgers are moist. Barbecue for great results, or pan fry if it is raining outside!


Serves: 6 

  • 900g extra-lean minced beef
  • 1 sachet French onion soup mix
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 60g porridge oats

  1. Preheat an outdoor barbecue for medium high heat and lightly oil grate.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the beef, onion soup mix, egg, hot sauce and oats. Shape into 6 burgers.
  3. Barbecue burgers over medium high heat for 10 to 20 minutes, or to desired doneness.
