About this recipe: This is an easy three-ingredient recipe with which you cannot go wrong. It is a great alternative to glazed ham and results in delicious leftovers that can be frozen. The ham will not taste like beer when it is done, but it will be succulent and moist!


Serves: 30 

  • 1 (9kg) bone-in ham joint
  • 1 large tin sliced pineapple
  • 650ml beer

  1. Preheat oven to 170 C / Gas 3. Grease an 18 litre lidded roaster.
  2. Place the ham, with the fattier side up, in the roaster. Use skewers to secure pineapple rings on the ham. Pour the beer over the ham. Place lid on roaster.
  3. Bake 6 to 8 hours, or until cooked through.
  4. Remove the pineapple rings and let sit 15 minutes before slicing.
