225g drained cottage cheese
60ml single cream
125g plain flour
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
475ml vegetable oil
3 tablespoons icing sugar

In a medium bowl, beat the cottage cheese and egg together. Stir in the cream, flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and nutmeg. Mix until just combined.
Fill a deep saucepan to the 5cm mark with oil. Heat to 190 C / Gas 5. Drop batter by rounded tablespoons into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on all sides about 3 to 4 minutes. Drain on kitchen paper and sprinkle with icing sugar. Serve hot!
