A lovely traybake that results in irresistibly chewy biscuit-like slices. Very simple to make and really nice with a cuppa. Cut into slices or bite-sized squares. You can try using pecans instead of walnuts, if desired.
Oh yes! This is the best recipe in the world and it certainly is not just for Christmas as I used to do. Now I make these Chewy Noels all year long and call them chewy cake-bars. I have this recipe in my Better Homes and Gardens Homemade Cookies book that I have had for over 30 years and I have used this same recipe that long. I have used pecans if I didn't have walnuts but it is better with walnuts. Everyone should try this recipe. It is so good you have to make a double batch!! - 05 Sep 2006 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
