    About this recipe: These cookies are so easy to make, even beginners can try their hand at them. They are packed full of oats, peanut butter and chocolate chips. Enjoy with a big mug of tea or coffee.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 30 cookies

    • 150g plain flour
    • 80g porridge oats
    • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 75g butter, softened
    • 175g dark brown soft sugar
    • 130g peanut butter
    • 4 tablespoons buttermilk
    • 60g plain chocolate chips

    Method

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease baking trays. Stir together the flour, oats, bicarbonate of soda and salt; set aside.
    2. In a medium bowl, beat together butter and dark brown soft sugar until smooth. Stir in the peanut butter and buttermilk. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, then fold in chocolate chips.
    3. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place them 5cm apart onto the prepared trays. Use a fork dipped in flour to flatten the balls slightly.
    4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly brown at the edges. Remove from baking trays to cool on wire racks.
