Mum's best waffles

    You'll need a waffle iron to make these warm, crispy waffles. Perfect with the kids for a Saturday breakfast, or top with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup for a quick and easy pud.

    Serves: 4 

    • 250g (9 oz) plain flour
    • 1 dessertspoon baking powder
    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 450ml (16 fl oz) semi skimmed milk
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1. In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add milk, eggs and oil; mix well.
    2. Pour desired amount of batter onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown.

    If you seperate the eggs and make the batter with the yolks, then whip up the egg whites and fold them in just before cooking it makes for a lovely light, fluffy waffle.  -  15 Nov 2009


    A good recipe, made 6 waffles with it. I added vanilla essence and only 1 teaspoon of salt so it was a bit sweeter, and they turned out perfect. Thanks!!  -  15 Jan 2012


    Used different ingredients. I converted it to gluten free. I substituted gluten free flour and 2 teaspoons xanthan gum. And it came out fine!! couldn't be easier!  -  01 Jul 2011
