    About this recipe: This is a great snack for cheesecake lovers. A walnut base is topped with a cream cheese topping and buttery crumble. Enjoy with a cuppa.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 18 

    • 75g butter
    • 75g dark brown soft sugar
    • 125g plain flour
    • 60g chopped walnuts
    • 225g cream cheese
    • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Method
    Prep:20min  ›  Cook:35min  ›  Ready in:55min 

    1. Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
    2. Cream together butter and sugar. Add flour and nuts. Pat into a 23cm square tin, reserve a little for the top. Bake for 12 minutes.
    3. Cream together cream cheese, sugar and add remaining ingredients. Pour on top of base and sprinkle reserved crumbs on top. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool.

    I wouldnt call them cookies, but its really good. I covered it while it was cooling so my family couldnt raid it, but by the time I came back, it was almost completely gone anyways. Great recipes.  -  06 Nov 2005  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

    delicious recipe, a hit at work. I changed a few things. I used sliced almonds and orange juice instead of the walnuts and lemon juice. I pulsed the almonds in a blender to create a finer texture. I also added 1 c. white chocolate chips to the cream cheese batter and topped it with 1 c. semisweet choc chips.     This was SOOOO GOOD.... I followed the instructions EXCEPT after I removed the crust from the oven the first time I added a thin layer of caramel (32 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped 5 tablespoons heavy cream) and then added my cream cheese filling...
