Terrific Tuna Burgers

    This is a great way of getting more omega-3 fatty acids into your diet. Fresh tuna is formed into burgers with carrots, onion, chives, eggs and seasonings. Enjoy in a burger bun with tomato and lettuce.

    Serves: 4 

    • 450g fresh tuna steaks, finely chopped
    • 1 carrot, grated
    • 80g onion, chopped
    • 25g chopped fresh chives
    • 2 eggs
    • 35g panko bread crumbs or regular bread crumbs
    • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
    • garlic salt to taste
    • freshly ground black pepper to taste
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil

    1. In a large bowl, mix together tuna, carrot, onion, chives, eggs, bread crumbs and mayonnaise. Season with garlic salt and black pepper. Form into burgers.
    2. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Arrange burgers in the pan (only as many as will fit easily in the pan). Cook, uncovered, 10 minutes per side or until golden brown.
