Easy Peasy Peach Cobbler

    A quick and easy dessert to throw together when you're short of time. Tinned peaches are topped with a spongy layer and baked. Enjoy with a dusting of icing sugar, custard, whipped cream or ice cream.

    Serves: 6 

    • 115g butter, melted
    • 2 (410g) tins sliced peaches with juice
    • 125g self-raising flour
    • 200g caster sugar
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 250ml milk

    1. Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Grease a 2-litre baking dish.
    2. Stir together peaches and juice with melted butter. Pour into prepared dish. In a small bowl, mix flour, sugar and salt. Stir in milk. Pour mixture over peaches.
    3. Bake on bottom rack of preheated oven 15 minutes or until lightly browned, then move to top rack for 20 minutes more. Serve warm.

    I left out the butter and only added a third of the juice and it turned out fantastic. I used cheap peaches and worked out the cost about £1.20!  -  16 Feb 2014


    I did everything the recipe told me but nothing happened, it stayed a batter and was just a peachy slop. Where did I go wrong?  -  28 Jul 2013


    It says: '2 (410g) tins sliced peaches with juice' when it ought to read '1 (410g) tin sliced peaches'. I made it with two and it didn't turn out right. Similar recipes use just one tin (410g).  -  08 Mar 2013
