About this recipe: This dense chocolate cake is quick and easy to make. Feel free to add chocolate chips or nuts to the batter. Enjoy as is or serve with chocolate sauce, whipped cream or ice cream.

Serves: 2

  • 50g butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 60g plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Prep:8min  ›  Cook:2min  ›  Extra time:5min cooling  ›  Ready in:15min

  1. Spray a medium microwave-safe bowl with cooking oil spray and set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and milk; blend together. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt; blend into the mixture until smooth. Pour into greased bowl.
  2. Cover and cook in the microwave on high for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes or until cake springs back when touched. Since all microwaves cook differently, adjust the cooking time accordingly. To serve, let the cake cool five minutes, then cover the bowl with a plate and turn both bowl and plate upside down so the cake falls onto the plate.

I like this recipe... A lot!!! There is one thing i don't like, though, the reason it has not got 5 stars is that even though i added the baking soda it didn't rise too well. I will admit i tweaked the recipe as i didn't add vanilla extract or cocoa. All in all, this is a good recipe! - 17 Sep 2013
