Golden Syrup Biscuits
So delectable, so easy - you'll love this recipe for Golden Syrup Biscuits! It makes a large batch, but all the better - you can freeze some, or fill the biscuit tin at work. They keep well. Enjoy!
Ingredients

- 375g plain flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 225g margarine
- 200g caster sugar
- 1 egg
- 275g golden syrup
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cider vinegar

- Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Lightly grease two baking trays.
- Combine flour, bicarb and spices. In a large bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Beat in the egg. Beat in the golden syrup and cider vinegar. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- On a floured surface, roll out dough to a thickness of 5mm. Using a small round cutter, about 3-4cm in diameter, cut into rounds and place 4cm apart on prepared baking trays. Bake for 8-12 minutes until firm to the touch. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

after carefully following the recipe, the mixture was far too sticky to roll out, so had to hand mold the biscuits. Nice flavour, but not cripy, but chewy! - 31 Oct 2013
followed recipe but you need to add a lot more flour in than stated. once you got a pliable dough it is a great recipe, I dread to think how they would have turned out if I hadn't added more flour. - 15 Aug 2015
