125g plain flour
300g caster sugar
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
235g chopped walnuts
145g puréed dates

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and flour a 20x30cm tin.
Melt butter. In a large bowl mix melted butter with sugar, eggs, dates and nuts.
Mix flour with bicarb and add flour mixture to date mixture; combine.
Spread mixture in prepared tin. Bake at 180 C / Gas 4 for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
