    About this recipe: This hearty meal is simple to make and everyone will love it. Pasta is layered with beef ragu and a creamy cheese mixture, before being baked to perfection.

    Serves: 6 

    • 285g egg pasta
    • 675g minced beef
    • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes with juice
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 350ml soured cream
    • 85g cream cheese
    • 1/2 onion, chopped
    • 120g grated Cheddar cheese

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
    2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
    3. Meanwhile, in a large frying pan over medium heat, brown the minced beef. Add the tomatoes with juice, salt and sugar and simmer for 15 minutes.
    4. In a separate medium bowl, combine the soured cream, cream cheese and onion and mix well. In a 20x30cm baking dish, place half of the pasta, then all of the meat mixture, then the cream mixture. Top with the remaining pasta and sprinkle with the cheese.
    5. Bake at 180 C / Gas 4 for 25 minutes.
