Cheddar Jalapeno Bread

    This bread brings together the beautiful combination of chilli and cheese. It's made in a bread maker and is perfect with stews, soups or casseroles.

    Makes: 1 loaf

    • 265ml warm water (45 degrees C)
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 70g diced mature Cheddar cheese
    • 5 1/2 tablespoons fresh chopped jalapeno chilli peppers
    • 410g bread flour
    • 1/2 tablespoon dried active baking yeast

    1. Add ingredients to the pan of a bread maker according to manufacturer's instructions.
    2. Set your machine on regular basic bread and press start.

    Jalapeno chilli peppers

    Can be purchased in speciality markets or online. If unavailable, use Scotch bonnet chillies to taste.

    Lovely bread, great dipped in baked Camembert :-)  -  17 Oct 2014


    Great tasting bread but the first attempt collapsed on the top. I tweaked the recipe by reducing the water to 250 ml. I added the yeast, sugar and water to the bread pan first and let them stand for ten minutes. I then added the other ingredients and the second result was perfect. I found that 4 chopped jalapeños was sufficient.  -  29 Aug 2016
