In a 1 litre jar, layer the ingredients in the following order: half of the oats, half of the dark brown soft sugar, all of the flour. Mix together the sugar, bicarbonate of soda and cinnamon, put on top of flour, then remaining dark brown soft sugar and remaining oats. Screw on the lid and attach a tag with the following instructions:
Preheat your oven to 190 C / Gas 5. Grease baking tray. In a large bowl, beat 275g of butter with 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until fluffy. Stir in the contents of the jar. Drop cookies by rounded teaspoons 5cm apart onto the prepared baking tray. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool on tray for 1 minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely. Enjoy!
Add a 150g layer of raisins, currants or chocolate chips to the jar.
