About this recipe: Buy good quality beef burgers from the butcher, then top them with cheese, sauteed onions, mushrooms, peppers and soured cream. Perfect with chips.


Serves: 4 

  • 4 shop-bought beef burgers
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green pepper, sliced
  • 225g fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 slices bread, toasted
  • 4 slices cheese, such as Edam or Emmental
  • 4 tablespoons soured cream

  1. Place burgers in a large frying pan over medium heat. Cook, turning, until cooked through.
  2. In a separate frying pan, cook onions, peppers and mushrooms, stirring until tender.
  3. Place 1 slice of cheese on top of each burger. Place burgers on top of bread. Top burgers with vegetables, then add a dollop of soured cream.
