    This is a simple method for preparing pumpkin purée. The pumpkin may be stored in the freezer for later use in cakes, muffins or savoury dishes.

    • 1 pumpkin

    Method
    Prep:30min  ›  Cook:1hr  ›  Ready in:1hr30min 

    1. Preheat oven to 160 C / Gas mark 3.
    2. Cut the pumpkin in half, stem to base. Remove seeds and pulp. Cover each half with aluminium foil.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven foil side up 1 hour or until tender.
    4. Scrape pumpkin flesh from shell and purée in a blender or food processor. Store in the freezer in freezer bags.

    It took longer to cook and was quite slippery to scoop the flesh off the skin. Would remove skin and cube before cooking next time.  -  20 Nov 2012

    Simple, easy instructions for the first time pumpkin pureer, a trick to this is too not let the pumpkin get cold before scooping out the pumpkin meat..once its cold it gets hard to do.  -  17 Oct 2005  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
