Easy Peasy Pastry for Pies

About this recipe: This is my recipe for basic shortcrust pastry that is so easy to make you'll love it! Use for quiches, pies or my favourite.... jam tarts!

Ingredients

  • 400g flour
  • 200g butter
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons water or milk, or more if needed

Method

Prep:5min  ›  Ready in:5min 

  1. Sift the flour into a bowl. Add the butter and rub in with your fingers until the mix looks like breadcrumbs.
  2. Add small amounts of water or milk into the mixture and stir or shape with your hands until all the mix comes together. Do not put too much water in or the pastry might go whiteish. If this happens, put it in your fridge for at least one hour before using. Then it should be fine to use.
