    About this recipe: Sensationally easy midweek supper or starter. The grilled prawns are done when they've gone pink. Don't overcook! Serve with chips and salad.

    Serves: 4 

    • 900g medium prawns, peeled and deveined
    • 110g butter, melted
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 60ml dry white wine
    • 3 spring onions, chopped

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

    1. Preheat the grill.
    2. Stir prawns together with butter, garlic and wine. Place on a baking tray and grill for 10 minutes. Sprinkle on spring onions and grill for another 2 to 3 minutes, until prawns are firm. Serve hot.

    I love Scampi and have been sauteing it for years on the stove top. This is soooo much better! I did do it a little different, I added some fresh lemon juice. I broiled the shrimp with the butter, garlic and lemon juice (without the wine) for about 7 minutes until the shrimp and garlic turned a little brown, then added the wine to cook the last 5 minutes.     Made the following changes to this based on other comments and it was great. Added a couple of shakes of worchester sauce, 1/4 t fresh cracked pepper, 1/4 t lemon pepper, and sprinkled some parmesean cheese on top before broiling.     This is the scampi recipe I used -- not the other 12 here on allrecipes. I omitted the wine and doubled the garlic. We went nuts over it. I served it with fettuccine alfredo and spinach sauteed in butter. MMM...AWESOME!  -  13 Aug 2005  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
