  • 225ml (8 fl oz) warm water (45 C)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter or lard
  • 1 dessertspoon dried active baking yeast
  • 75g (3 oz) sultanas
  • 400g (14 oz) bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:3hr  ›  Ready in:3hr5min

  1. Place ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer. Select the Basic or White Bread setting. (There is no need to select Fruit Bread setting, nor to add the sultanas in later.) Start the machine. After first knead, bread should be smooth, elastic, and dry to touch. Adjust if necessary with additional flour.
  2. After baking, remove pan immediately. Rest for 10 minutes in the pan. Remove bread from the pan, and cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.

Altered ingredient amounts. The only thing I changed was that I used wheat bread flour. I also doubled the sultanas because I love them so much! The recipe is extremely easy with minimal ingredients and great taste! I really enjoyed the bread! Thanks for the recipe! - 14 Jul 2008

Altered ingredient amounts. My husband, who can be picky, loved it! I had to add more yeast for my bread machine. What I liked best...low sugar, low fat, and still tastes terrific! - 14 Jul 2008
