Scott's BBQ Sauce

    10 min

A friend of the family gave us this recipe several years ago and after a few tweaks and additions, this is the only bbq sauce I use when I'm making ribs. It makes loads and will keep for a month in the fridge.

    80 people made this

    Makes: 2 litres

    • 950ml apple cider vinegar
    • 1 (550g) bottle tomato ketchup
    • 25g paprika
    • 450g dark brown sugar
    • 70g salt
    • 1 tablespoon black pepper
    • 2 tablespoons red pepper chilli flakes
    • 1 tablespoon garlic granules
    • 60ml (4 tablespoons) Worcestershire sauce
    • 120ml lemon juice

    Prep:10min  ›  Ready in:10min

    1. In a large container, mix together the vinegar, ketchup, paprika, brown sugar, salt, pepper, red chilli flakes, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Pour into an empty vinegar bottle, ketchup bottle or other container and store in the fridge for up to 1 month.

Generally, I tend to avoid recipes with only 1 or 2 ratings. I came across this one while looking for a sauce that didn't use dry mustard or liquid smoke and decided to give it a try. Exactly what I expected, perfect balance between sweet and acidic taste!  -  12 Apr 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

I hestitated making such a big batch of this sauce never having tried the recipe before but it was delicious. It is so much better than store bought--I don't think I'll ever go back! It is nice having homemade, delicious sauce all ready in the fridge when you are ready to BBQ. We'll definately be using this all summer!  -  04 Jun 2007  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

This barbecue sauce is a lot better then the sauces you can buy in stores. If you don't believe me try it.  -  15 Mar 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
