About this recipe: Great flavour - this'll brighten up any salad. It's basically equal quantities of tahini, olive oil and water, with soy sauce, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, garlic and fresh ginger.


Serves: 16 

  • 120g tahini (sesame paste)
  • 120ml olive oil
  • 120ml water
  • 4 tablespoons tamari (dark soy sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh root ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 pinch black pepper to taste

  1. Blend all the ingredients together in a blender or food procesor until smooth.
  2. Serve or refrigerate.

I didn't enjoy this very much, it was more like a paste than a dressing. It tasted like a bitter halva, also rather pungent, although my mum seemed to enjoy it. Personally I don't think I'll be making it again, but could make a good dip if you like strong and rather bitter flavours. - 04 Jan 2013
