Slow cooker BBQ Beef Chilli

    6 hours 5 min

Minced beef chilli with a taste of BBQ... simple and delicious!! I make this in the slow cooker for ease but you can make this on the hob just as well. I use Asda's mixed beans which is haricot, borlotti, cannellini and red kidney beans as it has a tasty tomato sauce but a regular tin of kidney beans works just as well.

    Serves: 4

    • 500g steak mince
    • 1 (400g) tin tomato soup
    • 1 (400g) tin whole plum tomatoes
    • 2 tins of mixed beans in tomato sauce (bought from asda!)
    • 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
    • 2 teaspoons chilli powder
    • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
    • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    • 1 tablespoon HP BBQ sauce
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • Bisto powder to thicken
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:6hr  ›  Ready in:6hr5min

    1. Brown off the mince in a frying pan. Add to the slow cooker.
    2. Add all the rest of the ingredients apart from the Bisto powder. Give it a stir and put on the lid. This should be cooked on LOW for around 6 hours.
    3. Once the chilli is cooked you may want to thicken the consistency with the Bisto. I usually add a couple of teaspoons of Bisto powder to water making a creamy mixture and stir into the chilli whilst it's still warm or when it has around half an hour left of cooking time. Season well with salt. If you fancy a real spicy dish add more chilli powder or even chop in a fresh chilli or 3!!
    4. Serve with rice or fried potatoes, sprinkle of cheese and a large dollop of soured cream.

Lovely recipe and made loads! Could easily serve 5 people. I would add a touch more BBQ sauce next time but other than that everyone really enjoyed it.  -  03 Jul 2015
