Sangria as nature intended

Sangria as nature intended

About this recipe: A closely guarded recipe no longer. This is the best you'll find and I could not keep it to myself anymore. I am hoping my stay in Purgatory will be reduced as a result. Probably the best party drink. Make it in a bucket (or jug if you're posh) and let your guests help themselves. Sweet and delicious it will soon disappear. Easily doubled, trebled or quadrupled! If you haven't got these ingredients, by all means experiment.

Makes: 1 generous litre

  • 1cm cubes any fruit available such as oranges, apples, pear, banana or even lemons.
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown soft sugar
  • 1 shot Safari® liqueur
  • 1 shot Cointreau® liqueur
  • 1 shot brandy
  • 1 shot vodka
  • 1 shot Bacardi® rum
  • 1 shot Martini®
  • 400ml red wine
  • 500ml lemonade or 7Up®
  • ice
  • mint leaves

Prep:5min  ›  Ready in:5min

  1. Mix it all in a jug (or if you want to treble the quantity, use a new bucket) and serve with a ladle.

By all means experiment or add more lemonade if the above is too strong. The mint leaves are a nice touch and add taste. One piece of three different fruits is enough and the longer you leave them in the mix the more alcohol they absorb. Beware children gathering around to eat these forbidden fruits.
