About this recipe: Gorgeously fruity traditional Irish loaf with a little twist. You can easily substitute spelt or gluten free flour for wheat flour. I've tried it with both and it's delicious. It's also a good recipe to have as a treat if you're watching your weight.
I love this! I haven't made this since I was a child, when I used to cook with my Mum. I couldn't believe it was as nice as I remember it. It's great for breakfast or as a snack. It's healthy (no fat, low sugar). There are other recipes for Brack on this site, but they all have too much sugar in them - with this amount of fruit, it's just not needed. Really delicious! I made it this morning, used spelt flour and a mixture of sultanas and dried cranberries. Also substituted the almonds for ground walnuts. The result was lovely - so moist! - 07 Feb 2012
