About this recipe: You're invited by a neighbour and wonder what to bring. Och well, let's see what lying here and there and let's make something sweet and warm for dessert.

Serves: 6 

  • 3 apples
  • 70g butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 100g demerara sugar
  • 70g roasted almonds, ground
  • spices (mixed spices, red pepper, black pepper, ginger, cinnamon)
  • 1 packet filo pastry

Prep:20min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:1hr 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Cut the apples into 1cm cubes without peeling them (too time consuming).
  3. Cook them in a pan in a spoonful of butter and add the honey, sugar, almonds and the spices to your liking.
  4. Melt the remaining butter.
  5. Line a dish with six layers of filo pastry, covering them with butter each time with a brush.
  6. Put the apple mixture in the dish. Cover it up with another six layers in the same way.
  7. Cut the extra filo pastry and make up the sides, then brush the top with butter to make it nice and smooth. Sprinkle a little sugar on the top.
  8. Bake until golden, 30 to 40 minutes. It's best served warmish with thick cream or vanilla ice cream.
