About this recipe: Mouthwatering rib eye fillet steak cooked to your liking in a rich red wine and mushroom sauce. Serve with fries and salad or vegetable. You can use any cut of steak you prefer, but I find rib eye works extremely well.

Serves: 2

  • 2 rib eye fillet steaks
  • 1 handful mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 glass red wine
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 knob butter

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Extra time:5min resting  ›  Ready in:15min

  1. Heat fry pan to high heat. Add steaks and seal well on both sides. I like it cooked fairly rare but cook how you like it.
  2. Remove steaks from pan and rest on a plate for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, turn the heat down and add mushrooms to the meat juices and add a little butter if needed. Cook for a couple of minutes then add the red wine and bubble for a further couple of minutes. Season with salt and pepper and finally whisk in the knob of butter. Serve.
