Wash lentils. Bring a large soup pan of water to the boil.
Dice turnip and add to pan of water. Boil for 10 minutes while preparing the rest of the veg.
Chop onions and slice carrots and add to pan.
Drain lentils add to pan with the ham stock cubes. Boil for 10 minutes. Flash fry bacon lardons in a frying pan to remove excess fat. Drain, add to soup pan and turn heat down and gently simmer for 20 minutes.
Peel and quarter 2 potatoes and add to pan for a further 20 to 30 minutes depending on how you like your potatoes. If you need to, add more water to the pan.
I use a large soup pan so depending on size keep checking its not sticking and add more water. Also add salt and pepper to your taste.
