    About this recipe: A very easy and traditional Sichuan recipe for a side dish of spinach dressed with ginger and sesame oil.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 1 

    • 250g spinach leaves
    • 3 tablespoons grated root ginger
    • 4 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
    • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon MSG

    Method

    1. Fill a pan with water and bring to the boil. Add spinach and cook for 2 minutes. Remove and place in a colander to drain.
    2. Combine remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Mix well.
    3. When the spinach has cooled a bit, place in a serving bowl or dish. Pour over the sauce and serve.

    MSG

    Monosodium glutamate is used in many Chinese recipes and can be found in Oriental or speciality shops, or online. In a pinch, use plain salt or a bit of soy sauce.
