Spicy African chilli steak soup

About this recipe:
A spicy soup made with steak and Scotch bonnet chillies for a kick. Serve with boiled sweet potatoes or yams for a South African accompaniment.
2 tablespoons groundnut oil
450g (1 lb) stewing steak or chicken, washed and diced
2 red onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/2 teaspoon ground root ginger
3 Scotch bonnet chillies, seeded and finely chopped
2 tomatoes, diced
100g (4 oz) okra, diced
- Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add meat, onion, garlic and ginger. Fry until meat is lightly browned and onion soft. Add the remaining ingredients.
- Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 25 minutes. Serve with gari or boiled yam.
