About this recipe: I made this recipe because my mum loves Mars® bars. These are for her, but I hope you will try them and like them, too.

Makes: 15 cookies

  • 225g butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 100g dark brown soft sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 375g plain flour
  • 2 1/2 Mars® bars
  • 125g chopped walnuts (optional)

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:10min cooling  ›  Ready in:30min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Cream together the butter, caster sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve bicarbonate of soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chopped Mars bars and nuts (optional). Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking trays.
  3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.


Instead of putting the Mars bars you can put 250g of chocolate chips of your choice.
