About this recipe: Good quick easy comfort food - cheap and delicious. Sausages and potatoes are baked in a casserole with BBQ sauce and cheese.

Serves: 4 

  • 8 sausages
  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 tin baked beans
  • 1 generous squirt of BBQ sauce
  • 50g your favourite cheese

  1. Fry the sausages over a medium high heat, 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
  3. Whilst the sausages are cooking peel and thinly slice the potatoes lengthways, then put into a pan of boiling water and par-boil for about 10 minutes.
  4. The sausages and potatoes should be ready around the same time if you're lucky - put the sausages into a roasting dish, pie tin, casserole dish or whatever you have handy.
  5. Pour over the can can of beans and squirt in the BBQ sauce, giving it a little stir to mix it in.
  6. Layer the par-boiled potatoes over the top of it (if you prefer you can coat them in oil but it isn't really needed). Grate cheese over the top.
  7. Pop into a preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese has melted and the potatoes are nice and crispy (a bit like really thin roast potatoes).
