This is my first attempt at a Madeira cake and I am delighted with this nice easy recipe. The cake rose well, it cracked along the top which was great and the lemon in the cake made the house smell wonderful. Next time I make it (and there will be a next time) I will look at it around the 30-35 minute mark and cover it with a little foil so that the top doesn't go too tanned. - 07 Aug 2015
