Chocolate brownies (secret recipe of mine)

    Yummy, scrummy recipe of mine that everyone I know loves! These brownies are not my secret any more!

    Makes: 15 Squares

    • 170g (6oz) butter or margarine
    • 340g (12oz) caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 3 eggs
    • 113g (4oz) plain flour
    • 85g (3oz) cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 tablespoon icing sugar (optional)

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
    2. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.
    3. Put sugar in a mixing bowl with the melted butter. Add vanilla extract and mix it all together. Stir in the eggs, one at a time.
    4. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder and baking powder and fold together gently until it forms a thick, quite rich mixture. Add the mixture to a rectangular, greased tin.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until not soggy when a fork is inserted.
    6. Put on a cooling rack (still in the tin) and sift the icing sugar on top of it.
    7. Cut into squares and enjoy! :D

    Made it healthier. put less sugar and more coco in to make it healthier... i no it sound more fatty but it works  -  04 Jun 2011


    Left a negative feedback yesterday and I take it back as the brownies are much better eaten the day after they are baked . The brownies are great warmed up  -  28 Jan 2013


    More like a rich chocolate cake as it's texture is nothing Like a brownie . So quite disappointed .  -  27 Jan 2013
