Brownie cake

    Makes: 24 

    • 100g butter
    • 125g chocolate
    • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
    • 175g caster sugar
    • 75g dark brown soft sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa
    • 100g plain flour
    • 250ml double cream

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a cake tin.
    2. Place a pan of water over a low heat until it boils. Then put a heatproof bowl over the pan and add the butter, chocolate and golden syrup in the bowl and stir until it melts with no lumps.
    3. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the caster sugar and brown sugar.
    4. Whisk the eggs with a fork. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, baking powder, cocoa and flour to the chocolate mixture and mix thoroughly. Put the mixture in the tin.
    5. Bake on the middle shelf for 25 to 30 minutes. Then let it cool for 20 to 30 minutes.
    6. Serve with cream.

    mine didn't turn out like traditional brownie more rich choc cake. Also followed the recipe but no signs of when to add flour, i guess after you take off heat. Gorgeous choc cake though. Would try again  -  04 Jun 2012


    we alll love i !! I cooked it for a little longer as daughter wanted to take some to school but can easily be warmed up and still goowy in the middle, We had with ice cream a fab recipe thanks for sharing it  -  04 May 2012
