    About this recipe: This is a tasty recipe that uses store cupboard ingredients. Great served with crushed or mash potatoes and green vegetables.

    Serves: 4 

    • 500g beef sausages
    • 1 tablespoon oil
    • 1 medium onion, sliced
    • 2 tablespoons plain flour
    • 300ml water
    • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle
    • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
    • 1 teaspoon English mustard
    • 1 tablespoon malt vinegar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    Prep:30min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:1hr 

    1. Fry sausages briskly in oil until golden. Remove to a plate.
    2. Add onion to remaining oil in pan and fry gently until pale gold.
    3. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually blend in water.
    4. Add remaining ingredients. Slowly bring to the boil, stirring.
    5. Replace sausages, lower heat, cover pan. Simmer gently for 30 minutes or longer.


    Pork sausages and skinless sausages can also be used in this recipe.
