Tofu houmous

    This recipe makes enough for a large party. The tofu makes the houmous mild and creamy. Add as much garlic as you like!

    Serves: 40 

    • 2 cloves garlic
    • 2 (400g) tins chickpeas, drained
    • 225g (8 oz) tofu
    • 3 lemons, juiced
    • 1/2 bunch parsley
    • 175g (6 oz) tahini
    • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

    1. Mince garlic in the large bowl of a food processor. Add chickpeas, tofu, lemon juice, parsley and tahini; blend until smooth. Add ginger, cayenne pepper and soy sauce; blend. Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Blend in water if too thick.

    Altered ingredient amounts. This is a great houmous recipe! The tofu gives it a very unique texture. I cut the recipe in half. I added some extra garlic. Thanks, this one is great!  -  24 Jul 2008

    This is a GREAT recipe for houmous when having guests... And to the adding as much garlic as you like.. I usggest splitting the recipe in half... some really garlicly and the other half for those that want a hold on the garlic!!!  -  24 Jul 2008
