Slow cooker chocolate cake

    An easy cheat recipe which rewards you with a comforting, squidgy chocolate cake for pudding! By making it in the slow cooker - the clean up is easy, too.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 16 

    • 1 (500g) packet chocolate cake mix
    • 1 packet chocolate dessert mix
    • 450g soured cream
    • 4 eggs
    • 235ml water
    • 180ml vegetable oil
    • 160g chocolate chips

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:6hr  ›  Ready in:6hr15min 

    1. In a large bowl, stir together cake mix and pudding mix. Make a well in the centre and pour in soured cream, eggs, water and oil. Mix well or beat on low speed until blended. Scrape bowl, and mix well again or beat for another 4 minutes on medium speed. Stir in chocolate chips.
    2. Pour batter into slow cooker pot that has been coated with non stick cooking spray. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours. Spoon into individual dishes.

    Didn't like it. All I could taste was the oil & the chocolate drops congregated at the bottom & went really hard. It looked great though.  -  31 Mar 2015

    I've made this a few times now. I cut down to 3 eggs and cook a little longer than 6 hours in the slow cooker, it doesn't have the texture of cake -but it's not supposed to. More like pudding/cake. We love it under vanilla ice cream or the next day for breakfast. Hey - how much worse is it than a doughnut??  -  17 Sep 2007  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
