Economical blackcurrant jam

    This is my grandmother's blackcurrant jam recipe which she gave to me over 60 years ago. It makes around 4 (450g) jars of jam.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 10 approximately 10lbs

    • 1.3kg (3lb) blackcurrants
    • 1.8L (3pt) water
    • 3kg (7lb) sugar

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:1hr  ›  Ready in:1hr15min 

    1. Remove stalks, wash fruit and place in jam pan with water. Boil for 30 minutes.
    2. Add sugar then boil rapidly for 10 minutes.
    3. Cool, pot and cover in usual way.

    Note

    I am sorry I don't know the exact amount this makes, I have forgotten as it is a while since I have made it.
