About this recipe: My grandmother made it for my mom. My Mom still makes it for me. And, for now, I make it for . . . my husband! Makes any flu or cold feel so much better :).

Serves: 5 

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 2 chicken stock cubes (Knorr® type)
  • 1 lemon
  • 150g alphabet pasta

  1. Boil the chicken whole in a large pot with the 2 stock cubes, with plenty water.
  2. Once the chicken is well cooked, after about 45 minutes, remove and shred the meat - keeping the "soup" that the chicken was boiled in.
  3. Once the chicken meat is shredded or cut in little pieces, put back in the original pot with soup.
  4. Bring this up to the boil and squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon and the alphabet pasta.
  5. Boil until the pasta is cooked, about 10 minutes, and serve hot, with an extra slice of lemon if you wish!
