About this recipe: Turkey drumsticks are an economical cut, and they're perfect for the slow cooker. You can add other herbs as you wish - thyme works well.

Serves: 6 

  • 60ml white wine
  • 2 (400g) tins chopped tomatoes
  • 3 chicken stock cubes, crushed
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs
  • 2 turkey drumsticks, skin removed
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Add the wine, tinned tomatoes, stock cubes, rosemary and herbs to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
  2. Add the turkey drumsticks. Cover and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours until the turkey meat pulls apart easily. Add salt and pepper to taste before serving.


For a heartier stew, try adding baby carrots or a few peeled and cubed potatoes. For a thicker sauce, add a tablespoon or two of tomato puree.
